PROCLAMATION
Presented By Vice-Chairman Ron Roberts

HONORING SAN DIEGO IVYHOUR

WHEREAS
, San Diego IvyHour was created in 2001 by a group of Ivy League
graduates with the vision of providing get-togethers for young, professional, Ivy
League alumni, living and working in San Diego County; and

WHEREAS, IvyHour events such as Opera Night, Race for the Cure,
Shakespeare in the Park, the Broomstick Ball, Comedy Store night, and
nonpartisan wine tasting events that involve San Diego elected officials, actively
promote civic, volunteer, political, cultural, social, and government involvement
throughout San Diego County to their members; and

WHEREAS, Alumni associations such as Stanford, MIT, John Hopkins,
Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Princeton, Columbia, Cal, Notre Dame, and Oxford
make up the IvyHour organization of over 500 individuals;

WHEREAS, occupations of IvyHour individuals include doctors, lawyers,
teachers, and entrepreneurs; and

WHEREAS, in San Diego County, nature already provides spectacular beaches,
mountains and deserts, IvyHour seeks to promote the arts, events and people who
make this an even greater place to live; and

WHEREAS, the County of San Diego is committed to recognizing and honoring
those organizations that are dedicated to the best ideals of public service, and
IvyHour is one such worthy organization;
NOW THEREFORE,

BE IT PROCLAIMED
by Chairman Bill Horn and all members of the San Diego
County Board of Supervisors on this 12th day of February 2006 that they
commend
IVYHOUR for outstanding service, leadership, and commitment to
area residents, and do hereby declare this day to be “IVYHOUR DAY”
throughout San Diego County.
